- On July 13, 2023 Councilman Kevin de Leon announced the LA City homeowners will be able to download a free, pre-approved ADU plan.
- It is called the YOU-ADU plan by Kadre Architects and Lehrer Architects.
- When built, the ADU will measure 455 square feet and incorporate solar panels.
- The plan can save up to $30k in custom design fees and is expected to shave several months off of the permitting process.
- Currently, this only exists for the City of LA. But LA County is expected to unveil a free, pre-approved plan as well.
